I'm still alive! + Happy belated Birthday to ShirleyBoooooon

It's been a while! I've been really busy with my work. Honestly, I never worked so hard in my life. =_=" Let me give you a summary of what I have been doing ok...hmm..let's start from the day when Spring semester end.

So during the first week of summer holiday I drove from Minnesota all the way to Iowa to pick up a friend then we drove again to Atlanta, my manager's house. His house is huge, pretty, and tidy, and clean, and dunno la! For a guy at this young age able to own such a house, it's really an achievement. I mean of cos he has been working real hard for it. He and his gf are people I look up to because....hmm...wait...this blog is about me la...so back to the topic at hand...

Then on the next day we again drove to Missisiippi (I think I spell it correctly) where our company at. We have one 'hell' of training that week. 15 of us staying in the motel (there is another group with about 100 students staying in another motel), went through an intensive training, from communication skills and all the way to memorizing the sales talks. That was fun, and that was the first time in my life I memorized something word by word (Bible verses not counted ok). After a week of training, we are all ready to go out and sell books!

So my "territory" is in Grandville County, North Carolina. 5 of us staying in a small cutie pretty apartment in Henderson, and everyone of us working in different county. Our working schedule is from 7.30am to 9.30pm 6 days a week. Sunday no-no rest day!! Sunday have to drive 3 hours to another town for group meeting. =( No cell phones during working hours, no phone calls after 11pm, no tee-vee, no internet (I have to write this blog and save in my pen drive then bring to the place where we have Sunday meeting, then I can onnly curi use the internet connection there to post up this blog ok, so you'd better read every single words here..=p)....

Then come to the first day of my book-girl life. I was excited (yes, i was!!) and scared at the same time. After one week of training now is the time to show myself how much I've learned from all the student managers. It took me 15 minutes to drive from my apartment to my county, but it took me another 15 minutes to reach the country site. I still remember I was driving on the same street for countless time and then I talked to myself, since I am here, die die also have to go down from the car to knock on my first door. Its really scary cos you never know who is behind the door.

The first door I knocked on, no one answered.. Phew...thank God..Moving on to the next one, was a white lady, yes, slammed the door on me (I dont want to talk about racism today, maybe next post). Then I realised that the street I was at, wasn't quite the kind of family I am looking for. So I moved on to the next street. So, one Mrs. Jones (we call all African American Mrs. Jones) opened the door. Phew~ I was so so so so nervous. Her name is Jacqueline (I can remember still)...I told her like what the sales talks says...I am Ming the college girl from Minnesota, this summer I am working my way tru college doing an internship program here in this county...I can't get over how nice everyone has been to me here...In fact you may know who who who that I have visited....bla bla bla bla...Her first reaction was "girl, dont be nervous, today is your first day huh.." hahaha...She knew that I was new in this!! But she was really kind enough to let me show her the books. She really like the Bible (really cool one ok!! from Thomas Nelson), but she really dont have extra money for it now, as she is on fixed income and she is diagnosed with cancer. =( What to do, haih, so I told her dont worry, I will pray for her and end of the summer I will go back to visit her..=_="

So my first day was pretty good, met a lot of nice folks (all Mr. and Mrs Jones), in fact all the doors that I knocked on they gave me a chance to show them the book. First day no sales, but I was happy, meeting all sort of people was a really great experience to me. Some families that I have visited make me appreciate what I have in my life now. Some families they really want to buy the books from me to help me in this job but they just cant afford it (you can tell from their face), so a lot of families did not buy from me, but what I receive is blessing from them and a lot of foods!!! Even the first day I have a few invitation to go to their house to have dinner everyday! nice people are everywhere =) Some families even give me donation but I did not take it, because I told them my purpose to come here is to sell book to help myself go back to school and in the same times the books will benefit the family. Until today (2 weeks +++ already), I only took 2 donations unintentionally, the first one I found it when I open the folded check ($20), then the other $10 bills I found it when I was demonstrating the book to another folk. Some families they wrote down my name and keep me in their prayer ( I met a lot of Rev. Pastors, Deacon...), you know this kind of blessing is priceless =) Some Mrs Jones want me to come back during weekends to meet their son, some want my phone numbers (because of company policy, I did not give)... And a lot of people thought that I am Korean or Japanese. =_="

And of cos I met some nasty family too... This world isn't beautiful as it seems. It was a Monday, I met this family where she and her daughter at home only. So i demonstrated the children Bible (This is also very cool one!!), the girl loves it!! Because it is day-by-day stories, and have a lot of pictures, songs and so on. So what the little girl did was, she kept on bugging her mom to get her the book, but as usual, the mom said she cannot afford it. And the girl kept saying "mummy..i want i want i want..." then the mom straight away stared at her and kicked her away (i did not exaggerate).. I was scared!!! Then the girl came back and cried and still saying "i want i want i want", then the mom...woowaaaaa...slapped her and asked her to go away. I got really really scared and then the mom said to me "Now you can leave", I quickly packed my bag and ran to my car, the moment I stepped into my car I started to cry, cry, cry and cry. It was my fault. =( Cos I didnt do my pre-approach properly and I went to the wrong family, I was supposed to visit another family during that time, but since she opened the door already so I just went ahead to tell the mom why I was there. So that afternoon I couldnt concentrate on anything, and I just couldnt smile. So I decided to go home because I didnt want to let other Mrs Jones see my soury face. And that day I was sitting outside of the apartment for 9 hours until my friends came home(we do not have key because the manager dont want us to go home early). =_="'

I am not trying to be self-pity or what, but this job is not easy. Having hundreds of people turning you down each day will not let you feel any better. Especially during noon, oh my Gosh!! the hot sun can kill you. The weather is so hot, I dont think the weather in M'sia is this bad!! Everytime during the hot afternoon, when people slam the door on you, saying NO to you, the thought of "quit" will just pop in your mind (somemore my car no air condition, so my reward of getting into Mrs Jones house is to enjoy the AC..=p). But everytime I think of how hard my parents have been working for me and they never complained, then I will just tell myself to hanging there, just put my head down and go knock on the next door. So far, one of my friend already quit this job. Another one is quitting too. =( Sometimes its real hard when you see such things happen, because you yourself already lack of motivation but still you have to motivate your friends not to give up.

Sometimes I really feel down, and lonely inside, but be it a good day or bad day, everytime I go home I still put on a smiley face as I dont want my roomates be so stressful like me too. I mean everyone going through the same thing everyday, when my day is bad, maybe their days are even worst, you get what I mean? *sigh* And I really believe that there is no short cut in this job, its only hard work. Good summer or bad summer, one air ticket to go back to M'sia, or my whole semester tuition fees, its all depends on how hard I want to work.

*bish* It's now 3am, Sunday. The only time we are allowed to on our computer to do something. I was just done with my weekly sales report and weekly journal (I have to write weekly journal cos it's graded!! Dont forget this is an internship program...=_="). Darn tired, have another few hours for me to sleep then it's time to go for Sunday meeting. It;s gonna be so malu as this week my sales is really really bad (no eye see), but i'm ok because I know i have already worked hard. Hard works will be paid off one day. yes. One day. Very soon.

Cis...I miss Malaysia badly. Miss papa, mummy, kor-kor, and meimei (x 2). Miss people that I love. Miss my friends. Miss City Harvest even more. Miss Birdy. I want to go Emerge too!Well, Although everyone is physically far away from me, I am holding everyone close in my heart.

Actually I have a lot to share, but I am really too tired to type la! Tomorrow (Momday) gonna be a brand new day, and I know that it's gonna be another fruitful week. it's all work hard plus pray hard. =) My new goal is to love people with compassion, to let the Mrs Jones know I care for them, and also to bring sunshine to them..weeeheee....

Last but not least, to....

my family: mummy n papa dont worry about me..i'm doing just so fine, nothing can beat down your daughter, YET.

the one that I sayang: you always have that extra confidence in me and I really appreciate how you have been motivating me and love me. =)

XiaoXiaoJian: great to hear from you the other day, DREAM big huh. Go strike for your dream and I know you gonna make it. If not just come back to States to teman me (but pls wait until October ok..=P)

Birdy: Macau misses Birdy, jagung, friendster, tinki, maggie goreng, guai-leng-gou.

friends in M'sia: too many to name. hahaha...=p but they know i miss them one!

friends in CHC: Can;t wait to join you all for services and cell group meetings!

friends in Bemidji: I miss Bemidji la! Missing that PM-Chang and Natalie-the-cam-whoreeeee..=p Wait for me to come back to go for road trip during end of the year!

ok. That's all for now. Hopefully I'll bring good news in the next post! WeeHee...Till then!

Cheerz,

Ming

Happy Mother's Day!

*don't laugh* These pictures were taken yearSSSS ago...
Anyway, a picture says a thousand words! (2 pictures I mean)

Mummy, we LOVE you!
MwaHHhhhhZZz

WHY?

WHY WHY WHY?

Everytime I travel, there's sure something will happen. FOR SURE!!

1- When I wanna come over to Bemidji from M'sia, air ticket was fully booked. So I have to fly to Minneapolis (city) and take a bus to this small little town Bemidji. Nevermind, I was fine with it, because I got to travel around in the city.

2- Then, United Airlines told me they "kinda" left my luggages in Chicago and for some reason they have to delay my luggage and they left me alone without any extra clothes during winter in St. Paul, Minneapolis airport. Fine then. I got to go to Mall of America to get new clothes.

3-I took a flight to Indiana from this small little town during Spring break for summer job orientation. I had a bumpy flight all the way to Indiana. It was ok cos I kinda enjoyed it. So after few days orientation, time to fly back to Bemidji. When I reached the Indianapolis airport with my friend, OMG, the airport is FILLED with people. We were not late, but it was not likely we can make it in time to go through the custom and get our butt sit in the plane. So we approached the officers in airport, they were like "you guys should be here 3 hours at least before the departure time"..WTH...it's just a domestic flight...Our flight at 9am, and we were there at 6:30am, not enough somemore aaaaRRrrr? Nevermind, cos later they rescheduled for us, just that we need to wait in airport for a couple of hours....

4-So things happened during Winter and Spring. and now Summer. =_=" I got my "new-sporty-car"--> it's written on the car, I didn't make this up. The initial plan was drive to DesMoines, Iowa and overnight at Eva's place before continue my journey to Atlanta with her. It needs 8 hours from Bemidji to Iowa...So I started to drive at 6pm..My car functioned pretty good, very smooth, steady, and fast... I drove like 70mph in average...I reached Minneapolis after 4 hours, I took a short break at a gas station, then later I decided to drive a little bit faster as I was getting tired and I really felt like reaching my friend's house faster...then suddenly "uh-oh" I heard something...something broken but I didnt know what exactly...and I saw the battery light was on... OMG...it scared the hell out of me..so I pulled over to one gas station to have a look..but no one help me..=( I called up my manager he said shouldnt be a problem to reach Iowa..so I continue my drive...then then then..Jeng Jeng Jeng... the interior lights were getting dimmer, no more radio...crapz..I prayed hard that please please please at least let me drive to an exit with a brighter place... then the ABS sign was on...then the Airbag sign was on... I was like..DIE...then I tried my best to drag my car to the nearest place (a pig farm...=_="), I couldn;t control the car anymore...as the steering dont allow me to do anything....then in just a few seconds my car just stopped there..so I stepped on the brake and off the engine...*sigh*..I dont know why this thing always happen on me...And I wasn't even know where was I...luckily I have such a greeeeeat manager and gf that help me to call AAA...then got hot guy came and picked me up..hahahahaha... this is my very first time sitting in a tow truck..cool er!! and I kept looking behind..and he was like "your car wont runaway..." hahaha.... =p anyway, by the time I reached my friend's house was already 5am..damn tired..=_+" for the past one two weeks i've been sleeping for 3 hours each day and now this thing somemore happen on me..aiyo!!

So I woke up early in the morning to call the mechanic workshop...haih..dunno what what belt was broken..then dunno what what what oil was spreading all over..=_=" as expected..one big hole in my pocket again...I'm so broke now...the petrol somemore so expensive..in Bemidji, the price was 2.60 per gallon...then when i reached another town..i saw 2.90...then later 3.00..then now 3.30...they really want to suck my blooooood one...I still remember when I first reached Bemidji like 4 months ago..it was only 1.90 per gallon...=( I really need to earn more money this summer...

and now...after get my car fixed...I need to drive another 15 hours... please..pray for me....i mean my car...aiya!

Anyway..today my church friends and my family friends make a farewell party for me and another girl as we are leaving this town for three months.... We have a lot a lot and different different kind of pies...Yummy!

Super Busy!

Ming says: It doesn't matter who you are, what matters is 'Whose' you are.
It's been a super busy week. I had 2 presentations, 2 major papers, 2 exams, in the last 3 days, that was crazy! Besides, I was busy helping out the Festival of Nations 07' that organized by International Students Organization. On Saturday, we were glad that everything turned out great! A lot of people turned up for the feast and we were so happy to get good comments from everyone!

I wore the Japanese Yukata kimono that I bought from Ebay. Gosh. I took years to figure it out how to wear this costume and I got really frustrated over it. Luckily with the help from Ching Ching it turned out "pretty" nice on me. I had lots of fun before the festival by helping out preparing the food and decorating the ball room. Enjoyed myself on the day itself too! Because I get to take a lot of pictures with a lot of people and I get to sing on the stage and I get to help out at the merchandise booth! It was a really great experience for me and anyway, a bunch of us went to party after the festival just to celebrate our great work!

Ok. That was Saturday. Then on Sunday I was helping out in the sunday school. It's another great day! hahahaha! I get to bring the kids to have a walk by the lake. They are so cute I wished they are all mine! wakakakaka!

...found hope, found life, found all I need....in You...

For you, sunshine!

My Sunshine Pammy just got a new job, I am thinking of getting her something, and I think and think and think and think...Maybe this will be the best gift!

Kitty. Kitty. Kitty. Rat. Dead rat.

More pictures!

Ming: Captivated by You, again and again. You are amazing!

Last Wednesday was our school holiday, so we decided to WALK to downtown. Yes. WALK. And you can see from the pictures that how boring is this town, there is NOT even one cinema. And the street is always so EMPTY, traffic never been busy too! I doubt the people here know what is traffic jam. =_="
Last Saturday woke up at 6 in the morning to go to this trip at Walker (somewhere one and a half hour from this town) to see 'Walleye' spawn taking. Well, 'walleye' is a type of fish, and this is the beranak-anak season, so they kinda trap all the fishes to one place, and then they bring them up one by one and squeeze the sperm out from the male-fish, and eggs from the female-fish. Then, they mix the sperm and eggs with clay water to harden the eggs. After few hours they will put all the eggs back to the river and maybe few days later the eggs will become small fishes! It's pretty cool..=p I should go to the Outdoor Program Center to check out more activities...Heeeeeee..

eh peOple..I am StresS la!

Gosh...I am started to get frustrated over my works for this semester. I am really really really stress. So much works to complete, and yet so little time I have. Time management, Stress management, I dont know how useful are they to me now.

I have been working hard (Well, at least I think so), spending so much times on things that some I dont even have a clue on, spending sleepless night to finish up the work, waking up early in the morning to complete the rest.....but but but but but...still, my results are still...so..so...

Friends have been saying I am giving myself too much pressure, but I really dont think so..I really need someone to push me, put pressure on me, then maybe I can only do well. =(

I am not asking much from myself, I just need B for every subject, good enough for me to go into Graduate school (Well, if I want to go la someday..=p).. sigh..just a BBBBBBBB!!!

3 weeks to go until Summer holiday. Major papers and major presentations are coming up, and I still have to deal with some other stupid assignments and exams.... God, show me Your way how am I gonna do this this time, I need Your guidance, need Your strength, I will listen to you as Your way is always the Higher way....=)

This is the way that I keep my smile on my face for the rest of the day.

Try it. You will believe what I say then. =)

Random stuff - updated!

I have been Missing In Action to many people. Aiya. Nevermind, let me update you some of my stuff k!

  • I have been really busy with my studies, believe it or not up to you...=p
  • I am broke. It's like "BROKEDED" broke. A-me-li-ka food is really expensive, you tend to control your expenses on food but later you will find that no matter how you save, it's still cost you a lot. Well, maybe I should just take one meal per day.
  • I am looking for a car. Actually I found a good deal, a few hundred dollars (not more than 1000) for Dodge-Neon year 2000 car. I really hope the owner will keeps his promise. *fingers crossed*
  • I am still figuring out how to finish up all my works in such a short period.
  • I should call home more often.
  • I am loved.
  • I learned to be aware of people around you, backstabbers are all over. Beware of GIRLS.
  • I get hungry easily lately. I eat a lot but in the same time I'm losing weight. =_="
  • You tend to eat a lot when you stay here cos of the temptation. The evils on this floor will just come in your room and tell you.."eh...i'm hungry"..then you will automatically reply to him/her "Let's go get something to eat" without thinking much. Grrr.
  • Stay in campus or off campus? It's hard to decide. Whatever it is I've already paid deposit for next semester to stay in the dorm. *haha* I'm hoping to get a roomate next semester. I know la, I am crazy... *aiya* It's lonely sometimes to stay alone..
  • I need to get a job in the campus. ISH! They don't want to hire me when they know I am graduating soon.
  • I want to work in dining hall. Not becos of the food obviously, the food there Triple-EEW. I want a job because I want a social security number. Ish, it's not like the job allows me to earn a lot of money or what.
  • I need a car. A car. A car. Car. Car. car. A car for summer job. Pray hard for that.
  • I can't wait to go back to Penang on October to attend my brother's wedding! Everyone is invited, just tell me if you can come, k? October 7th. I would love to meet up everyone when I am back, I will only be back for one week plus and have to minus 4 days on the flight. =_=". sad case.
  • It's still snowing in Bemidji. We have lots of rains and snows too. I know it's crazy cos it's April and it supposed to be Spring now.
  • I should try to fall in love with all the subjects I am taking. Heeeeee...
  • I'm missing Penang's food. Mom's cooking actually. Steamboat, indian curry. Hmm. Yummy.
  • I need more sleep. More. more. More. ZzzzzZzzzzZz
  • I need to go to play tennis more. Run. run. Runnnnnnn....
  • I want holidayssssssssssssSSSsssssssssss...
  • I am loved. I think I said it twice already.
  • I am loved. 3 times then. =p

Will post up some picturez later I have done my works for the day. Till then! =)

WooWaaaaaa..

God is good. God is great.

Friend is sweet. Friend is LOVE.
